Is the traditional family-oriented, masculine male redundant?

I hope it’s not redundant, but I do think the media and other forces in society are trying to make it redundant, in everything from the fashions and crap they promote to the new information coming out about the widespread use of birth control causing women to prefer more effeminate men. I forgot who, but one of the famous early feminists said something along the lines of “we’re becoming the men we’d hoped to marry”, and that is part of the problem. When women see men as only competitors, they are intimidated by a man who is more masculine than them, and actually seems capable of taking leadership in a household or relationship. The reason there are so many single 30 year-old men out is probably because women fall for the weak, easily controlled type and marry or move in with them in their 20s, then become tired with a male doormat and just decide they dislike men & marriage, rather than looking for a real man.
