Is the U.S. Embassy opening an office in the Bavaro/Punta Cana area?
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that a new U.S. Consular Agency will open near the end of the year in the Bávaro-Punta Cana area. The new Consular Agency will be located in Palma Real Shopping Village, Playas de Bávaro, Higuey, La Altagracia. This will be the second U.S. Consular Agency in the Dominican Republic and it will serve the eastern provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, and Hato Mayor. The Puerto Plata Consular Agency has been in operation for more than 20 years and serves U.S. citizens in the north. U.S. citizens comprise 35 percent of the more than 2.5 million annual visitors passing through Punta Cana airport each year. The new Consular Agency will allow us to better serve the growing number of American visitors as well as U.S. citizens residing in the eastern part of the country.
