Is the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Alberta, Canada still the biggest mall in the world?

No it is not. West Edmonton Mall (WEM), located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is the largest shopping mall in North America and the third largest in the world. It was the world’s largest mall for a 23-year period from 1981 until 2004. I was just there recently. I was impressed. My son said that it seemed to him that “The Mall of America” in Minnesota was larger to him, but perhaps it was just the layout.
