Is there a certain strength that therapeutic magnets should be to be effective? Can any type of magnet heal the body?

According to Ted Zablotsky, M.D., President of BIOflex Medical Magnetics, "The minimum level of reduction is 5 gauss at the level of tissue pathology to be affected. Our magnets are designed to deliver this reduction up to approximately one inch from the surface of the magnet." His products have been used in studies at such prestigious schools as the Baylor College of Medicine with some fascinating results. Prior to purchasing magnets, check to see the strength of the product and any specific studies done using the brand you are looking at. The book "Magnet Therapy: The Pain Cure Alternative" by Rosch et al. has some interesting information as well. My past experiences of using these products for knee, neck and upper back discomfort has been nothing short of amazing.
