Is there a conflict between my current religion (Christian, Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jain, etc) and the practice of meditation?
Judaism strongly advocates meditation to seek the inner peace that this beautiful, accepting religion can offer to it’s followers —
I quote " Lord, let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable unto you."
Meditation (during prayer, or separately) brings inner strength, and stronger spirituality, no matter which religious path you choose to follow
Not at all. Meditation is your personal dialogue with yourself, your thoughts, your spirit, spirit guides, and depending on how open you are, your personal version of the "creator," he or she who started the first particle rolling.
There is no real difference between any religion when you meditate on the purpose of each — to give it’s followers something to "hold on to" and "think about" during ones life journey. Meditation is the physical body’s core to which each of us must constantly revisit. It is from that place of inner understanding that the ultimate knowledge is derived of how our world fits together…and how we are all expected to grow into wiser beings.
That’s not easy to answer as all religions have different beliefs, but my opinion-being a person that is seeking the truth about the bible, i believe you should meditate according to your beliefs. If you feel you are dishonoring your creator then you should not. I feel as long as you are not dishonoring your creator you should meditate. Meditation is learning to control your thoughts on what you need or want to focus on in your daily life, so in the long run I think it would be benificial to your creator if he is the main focus in your daily life…
The act of meditating itself is one that has crossed those religious lines and is present in most religions all over the world. It all has to do with the perspective you take when approaching meditation, as long as you keep your thoughts or idea within the boundaries of your chosen faith, mediation will actually benefit the practice of your faith, allowing you to delve deeper and focus on spiritual renewal from the inside out.
