Is there a correlation between Americans’ health and the size of the public health workforce?
Definitely. The issues addressed by today’s public health workforce include the top causes of death and disease: tobacco, diet, and physical inactivity. Given how entrenched these problems are in the United States (and increasingly worldwide), it will take highly trained public health workers to make a positive impact on the public’s health.
