Is there a difference between felony probation and misdemeanor probation?
Misdemeanor probation is different than felony probation. Misdemeanor probation, also known as court probation or informal probation, on the most basic level requires that you do not commit any new law violation for the duration of your probation, and do whatever other terms the court imposes – attend classes, pay restitution, etc. If you do not comply with the terms of your probation your probation may be revoked and you may be sentenced to jail. Your probation may have other terms, such as search terms. On the other hand, felony probation subjects you to reporting to a probation officer – either in person or by mail. You may have to attend classes or counseling and vocational training, or seek employment. You may also be required to periodically drug test and you be subject to travel restrictions.
