In Spanish we say “pluridisciplinario”… Well, they are different words, and people can create different models by which they think different areas can relate. Let me just give you an example. I know of a university where they teach a class called “Capstone in Communication” (it’s the senior course that all the different majors in the School of Communication a required to take.) The school itself has 9 majors: communication studies, but it also has advertising, broadcasting, public relations, theatre, film and video, photography, health communication, and students in all of these majors have to take the course. There can be significant challenges to address ideas relevant to students in all the majors. Some faculty who regularly teach it have tried to pull together significant thinkers who have written on those common topics and issues that resonate in and throughout all the majors. So it might be key thinkers on ‘freedom of expression,’ ‘nature of language,’ or it might be on ‘symbolis
