Neutering IS removal of the testicles. Neutering and castration mean the same thing – neutering is a general term that can be applied to either sex. Removal of testicles is routine procedure. Whenever a dog is neutered, his testicles are removed; there is no ‘tube-tying’ as people often believe. Some vets I believe implant ‘neuticles’ so it looks like the dog still has balls, but this is of no benefit to the dog, it’s for the owner only! There is never any point leaving behind an organ that is not going to be used again; it would only become infected and/or cancerous. When female dogs are spayed/neutered, their ovaries and uterus are removed. To leave them behind would negate almost the entire point of neutering and would be certain to cause severe problems down the line. Far from causing future problems, neutering actually saves the dog from future problems. Testicular cancer is obviously completely ruled out.
