Uhh, in my opinion, your friend is wrong. There will always be a need and jobs for architects (until and unless the human race decides to have a nuclear war or something). Yes, architecture IS a long program, like 6 or 8 years. Expect a LOT of homework EVERY day. It has artistic aspects, yes, BUT it also requires advanced mathematics and engineering classes as well. Hope you are comfortable with mathematical formulas and equations. Careers in that field DO pay very well though – so if you think you’re up to it, go for it.
