Is there a generic version of Concerta?

0

Not yet. I believe Concerta’s patent expired in 2008 (one source said 2003) but there is some sort of litigation going on. When a company creates/invents a drug, they apply for a patent, meaning no other company can make this drug until the patent expires. Thus the company can charge a lot for the drug, and the rationale for this is that that company spent much money developing, researching, testing, and getting FDA approval for this drug, so they want to recoup their losses. It is also my understanding that in order for a company to make a generic version of any drug, the company must first get FDA approval, which can take some time. Your very best source for this? Walk into any pharmacy and ask.
