Ok, so what is all this hype about Tupac Amaru Shakur? Wasn’t he just a gangster? Didn’t he kill many people? I heard he was a drug dealer! I think he’s still alive in Jamaica too! These are just some of the many responses I encounter when I speak about Tupac or mention his name. Most of us are somewhat confused when it comes to one of the most controversial, epic, prophetic, and energetic icons of our time. Unfortunately, many have bought into the media-hyped stereotype of Tupac. For some, Tupac was merely a Black, angry, dangerous, mean, and heartless thug who was admired by ignorant and blind followers. However, I do not believe that.
