Is there a height limit/requirment to fly jets in the Royal Australian Air Force?

If you want to fly fast-jets (Hornet, Super Hornet or JSF) you’re going to have trouble getting in as tall as you are now, and if you’re 14 years old you’ve still got at least 4 years of growing left so you’re going to be a giant. The height requirements for RAAF aviation are as follows: Height – minimum 163 and maximum 193cm. Sitting Height – maximum 100cm. Buttock to knee length – maximum 67cm. Buttock to heel length – maximum 122cm. The reason for the buttock-knee length is that if your thighs are longer than that, your knees will be under the dash board of the jet and if you have to eject, chances are your legs will get caught and… well I don’t need to say the rest. There are still plenty of other great jobs in the RAAF though, check out defencejobs.gov.au and you’ll be surprised at how many other jobs there are and how many of them may take your interest. The RAAF is a great career and lifestyle so I recommend giving it a go.
