Unfortunately there is no direct flight from Athens to Izmir… You must go to Istanbul and then take the plane for Athens and the same to your way back another alternative is to take train but you must go to Istanbul again and then to Thessaloniki (selanik)andddd to exchange train for Athens. Too much trouble, I truly wouldn’t recommend this! Another solution (most comfortable) is to take Ferry from Izmir to Chios island (right across Izmir, it is only 40min far!) and from there you can take a flight to Athens or you can take a Ferry if you like! What ever your choice is, I wish you to have a nice trip and fantastic time in Athens! May is the right moment to visit the capital of Greece! I am Greek – Regards!
