is there a taste/texture/smell/colour difference between meats?
Organic: The animals have been given minimal drugs such as antibiotics Caged: Normally refers to poultry. Means kept in cages, current legislations means minimum area for each bird is the same as a piece of A4 paper. Lots of questions have arisen about the welfare of animals kept in such conditions. Value: Cheap so normally from minimal welfare standards such as battary farms. Often a low percentage of meat in comparison to water content. Wild: Animal has lived wild prior to slaughter. Personally never seen this on packaging before and never heard of it so can only assume its meaning. There is a difference between the textures. For example, value chicken that is pump full of water taste less and feels very rubbery compared to the quality free range stuff. I like the free range stuff, it makes me feel that little bit less guilty about eating meat. Packaging does have a impact, if it says free range then i buy.
