Is there a way to get out of jury duty?

I got called for Jury Duty. In the past, when I lived in Connecticut, I also lived in the country and would have had to travel into the inner city of Hartford to serve. I, like you, just could not handle the city. I tried postponing it, but they kept sending notifications. Finally, I just got a doctors’ excuse for anxiety and mailed it to them. They excused me. I just got called here in N. Florida. The court was located in a country setting with an easy commute. This time I appeared. There were 130 of us, I was #125. They asked if anyone needed to be excused for child care issues or other problems. I raised my hand and asked if ‘short term memory problems’ would be an issue. I was excused and out of there in 1/2 hour. There is also a question section that comes with your summons. Questions like…are you related to or friends with a police officer…are you involved in a lawsuit…stuff like that.
