Is there a way to record Internet voice chats on the computer?
Dozens of programs let you record sound on your computer, including voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls made with programs such as Skype, or audio chats conducted over an instant-messaging program such as Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk. Figuring out which one works best for your purposes mostly depends on your operating system and the program you use to chat. If you use Skype, there are a number of free or inexpensive recording options for Windows and Macintosh systems. Some versions of Skype may come bundled with recording software such as the Pamela Call Recorder (pamela-systems.com) or have it available as an add-on for Windows. Call Recorder does the same thing for the Mac version of Skype ($15; ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder). Another Windows plug-in is PrettyMay (prettymay.net; $25).
