is there an advantage in choosing the Arctic region for that solar telescope mission?

The greatest advantage I can think of is the fact that the Arctic has days without end in Summer. Another advantage is that the Sun in the Arctic is always above the horizon and never overhead. The Sun might set partially but still will be visible for the longest periods compared to any other region on earth, excepting Antartica. Artic is far more accessible than the Antarctic during any time of the year. These considerations must have been taken into account while choosing the Arctic for setting up the Project “Sunrise” there. I could research and give a much better answer with links but I do not think much more will be found in the search results.
