Whether you hire a Canadian lawyer or a professional immigration consultant/practitioner you should ask for references from previous satisfied clients. In reality there is no such thing as an immigration lawyer since there are no Canadian law schools which specialize in immigration law, as they would in corporate law, family law, criminal law, etc. When a Canadian lawyer graduates from law school he is exposed to one singe course of Canadian immigration law and is no more skilled or qualified than an experienced professional immigration consultant/ practitioner.
