Is there an alternative for Mil-P-23377or TT-P-2760 for use as a tie coat primer when scuff sanding and overcoating USAF aircraft?
Yes, a non-chrome tiecoat has been developed and field-tested on F-15, F-16, C-130 aircraft. The test was successful and this tie coat was added to T.O.1-1-8 with change 18. This tie coat should not be used on A/OA-10 aircraft due to the requirement for a low IR primer under the topcoat. Testing is planed for the non-chrome tie coat to determine if it meets the low IR requirements. If the tie coat meets the IR requirements than it should become authorized for use on the A/OA-10.
