Is there another drug instead of cymbalta to work for chronic pain?

I’ve had it for 18 yrs.Many operations and car accidents.Been on every drug possible and what works best is vicodin and soma.Been doing much better but doc feels its not good enough and wants me to take cymbalta and it makes me very nervous when the side effects are what I already try to keep under control without help from an antidepressant.Also I am not at depressed,very happy person except for arguing with my doc because my pain hasn’t gone away.I would like some suggestions so I can be better informed.
