in a Flightdeck of age you have 1 Captain 1 First officer 1 Flight Engineer keep in mind Flight engineers aren't used anymore. All modern cockpits are designed to Operate with just two pilots as most systems can be automated and need little attention even when something does fail, leaving the Pilots to do their job and fly, in an older airplane generally the Pilots would work on flying the airplane and the Flight engineer would play *****. His job is to do things like Fuel Management, Fuel Calculations enroute, Managing Hydraulic systems, Electric Systems and Pneumatic systems many a time. http://samchuiphotos.com/Concorde/CON36.jpg Going to use Concorde in my Example since she's so well known, in the back right seat you have a Flight engineer doing much of the dirty work on Aircraft systems, the Left seat you'll generally find Captain Mike B. ;) and on the Right side you'll (in Concordes case) Find another Captain of all Captains.
