Is there any chance we will survive a collision with the Andromeda Galaxy ?

There is every chance that we will survive (humanity, of course). Since we don’t have to worry about the collision for 3-4 billion years, and since galaxies pretty much pass through each other without banging their stars together (very rarely), and since we will have 3 billion years worth of technology to handle anything the collision can throw at us, I think we’re pretty safe….Our biggest problem by that time will be that the Sun will be old, heating up and expanding and the Earth’s oceans will be gone by then, boiled away by our Sun’s increased size and heat. If we’re still around at that time, we will be masters of the galaxies and will not have to fear something as minor as the collision of two galaxies.
