Is there any cure for internal bleeding?
Those who have been alcoholics for a long period of time are at a huge risk of developing cirrhosis of the liver. Those that have cirrhosis, or those who are in liver failure tend to have internal bleeding in the stomach, upper intestine, and/ or esophagus. When the liver is damaged, scarring forms in the liver. Blood is not able to pass freely through the scarring and this results in increased pressure in the blood vessels (in the upper intestine, stomach and esophagus). When the pressure increases so much, the vessels begin to burst. This is how the internal bleeding happens. Ways to try to control the bleeding include either cauterizing the vessels or banding them. This can usually be done with and endoscope. (flexible tube with a camera in it). This is not a cure-all for internal bleeding. Only time will tell.
