Is there any evidence than cordon or espalier methods of shaping produce better crops of fruit?
Both cordon and espalier allow more room, more light, and more air for the plant to develop and are better than a bush or tree, if you have a suitable wall, fence, or other support you will get an increase in yield, they are best on a south facing support. If they are on a solid wall keep them about 3″ from the wall, and try to get a book on how to prune and train them, your local library should have one.
