Is there any legal prohibition on the delivery of alcohol to a private residence?

I know in some places we’ve been you can get things delivered like that and they’ll card you at the door. In other places it’s more complicated by the laws involving transporting alcohol. I once managed a convenience store. When they were moving one of the store locations to a new building across the street one of the higher-ups insisted that we couldn’t move the alcohol but had to get someone else who was licensed to do it. That always seemed a bit pointless to me. But also think about this in terms of partying. Wouldn’t it be better to have beer delivered to your party? I bet there’d be less DUIs if you could. It’s like the free cab program some places have. Cheers!
