If you mean can a “card carrying” member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints drink alcoholic beverages? NO. But if he takes NyQuil for his cold he will probably sleep like a baby since he isn’t used to it at all, and there would be no guilt. The principle is don’t take anything into your body that might be harmful. (Notice my choice of the word ’might.’) We understand that the Hippocratic Oath says “first do no harm” so we tend to trust the doctor’s advice, but we also have to be careful of all addictions. This is not just drug addiction, but also other things that might be habit-forming. Consider that sugar in excess is not a good thing.
