Is there anyway we can a foreign exchange student?

Many universities have an international hospitality program in which you can be a social host for a foreign student but not have to house (or feed) him/her. I belonged to the program at Tulane University for many years and developed many wonderful friendships. Visiting my former students at their homes in Europe is wonderfully rewarding. Some high schools have regular international student exchanges already established in which the students stay for just a few months. Check with your local schools as well as local colleges/universities. As for being a foreign exchange student, check with your college or university to see if it offers any study abroad or summer study programs. Also, visit the Council on international Educational Exchange’s Web site, www.ciee.org, for more info on study abroad. They’re the real experts.
