Is there perchlorate in any common household items?

The odds of a high school advocating the manufacture of explosives is essentially nil. Those people have lost their job already. So the premise of your question is a little sophomoric. But I’ll take 10 points for – old generic bleach (>2 years) stored out of sunlight under warm conditions. Because of trace metals in cheaper bleaches, perchlorate formation is higher. This will contain about 10 ppm of perchlorate, possibly more if you do certain things. The big question is how do you get the perchlorate out of the bleach solution. Other than that, there is no readily available, significant source of perchlorate in common household products.
