Is THROWING a pen vertically downwards considered free falling?

yes throwing a pen is considered free fall the instant it leaves your hand only because the only force acting against your pen after it leaves is gravity OK NEW ADDITION ANYTHING is in free fall if these 2 requirements are met. 1) The object is not being acted upon by any force other than gravity (so for this example, ignoring air resistance and any other outside force.) 2) There are no intreuptions in the objects path SO for this example thrown or not, the only force against the pen once it leaves your hand is infact gravity (if we ignore air resistance) no matter how fast or slow you throw it.
