Is Topamax dangerous?
I took topamax for 3 years. I started out at 25 mg and stopped at 100 mg. I had the same type of headaches – they just lasted all day long, everyday. Topamax was a miracle drug for me. You will be able to figure out when your miagraines are worse (for me it was the summers) and increase during those times. Always increase your dosage in 15 mg to 25 mg dosages for atleast two weeks before you go up. I used to take half in the morning and half at night since because it seemed to lessen the side effects such as drowsiness and the tingling in your hands and feet. The tingling only occurred for me when i was changing my dosage. It isn’t too bad. I did loose a great deal of my hair but I started two medications at once so it did a number on my body and the dermatologist said it caused trauma to my body and caused my hair to thin. I couldn’t drink any carbonated beverages because they tasted awful after I was on topamax. All and all though this drug was worth every side effect that I had. I d
I took 20mg of Topamax for about six months and it does help with migraines a lot. At least for me, it helped me focus more and my head kind of felt cleared because I wasn’t walking around with headaches all the time. Seizures are a rare side effect, I didn’t have them and I don’t know anyone who has. Not sure about hair loss, I didn’t have that side affect but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Your doc should fill you in on everything and can decide if you should take Topamax or not, so go ahead and bring it up.
