Is TradeFIT just for construction industry employees – what about CPIT students?
TradeFIT is being established to provide trades’ training for construction and infrastructure industry employees. CPIT students enrolled in pre-trade training will also benefit from the development of TradeFIT. Many of CPIT’s existing pre-trades training programmes will include work experience within the TradeFIT site. For example, building students who currently construct houses as part of their training will now construct the houses within the TradeFIT simulated subdivision. Plumbing and gas fitting students will install fittings and fixtures within the houses in the subdivision and electrical students will wire the houses. CPIT students will work alongside trades’ personnel already in employment, allowing for the observation of skills and expertise being put into practise, and opportunities for students to interact with other trades’ people, developing greater knowledge and enthusiasm for trades.
