Is tropical flake food the same as goldfish flake food?
Tropical flake food is not the same as goldfish flake food. But goldfish will survive on it just fine. That being said, the best food for goldfish is pellet food. Most pet stores sell it, especially the chain stores. Pellet food does not decay quickly like flake food, so your tank will stay cleaner. It is also far more nutritious than flake food and has stuff in it that enhances color as well. It is slightly more expensive than flake food (about $5 to $7 a bag), but will also last much longer. If you cant find goldfish pellet food, Koi food will work just as well. Just make sure the pellets are small enough for your goldfish to swallow. Hikari is a major brand. Not all goldfish foods are the same. Yes and no. Quality fish foods basically have the same ingredients only in different amounts for different fish requirements. Goldfish need higher proteins some fats and low fillers. If you are asking because that is all you have, that is fine to feed them. Just be sure to add fresh veggies like lettuce peas and greens. Goldfish should not have diets of high fillers, cellulose salts or meal.
