Is UK rich now just because of Imperialism and looting waelth from India and the other eastern countries?
Peace and great respect to you my friend. I did not know we were so well off here in good old Blighty, thanks for reminding us! Britain was successful in the past because we actually had many of the cleverest people ever born to this Earth – and still do. Most of what makes the world tick right now is in-fact British inventions (to name just a few – the clock, the jet engine, the computer, the steam engine, the hovercraft). That wealth of technology is now being passed on to India and China in huge ways. It’s true that India was once described as the Jewel in the Crown, and rightly so. India was used back then to fuel the British economy and was a great ‘partner’. In turn, during the Empire days, British wealth and engineering built up railways, industries, communications and brought civilisation to a huge degree to India. To say that Great Britain is rich now is a total L I E ! In terms of the working individuals that live here, we are amongst the highest taxed and lowest earners on E
