Is ultrasound a validated technology?
Yes. Since its conception in 1984, ultrasound BUA technology has been the subject of hundreds of peer reviewed clinical studies. Three prospective hip fracture studies have been published showing that the technology is able to predict hip fracture risk equal to DEXA hip. This data enabled two American and one British heel ultrasound device to be licensed by the FDA as a diagnostic and management tool for Osteoporosis.
