The rate increase, which will take effect Nov. 1, will increase that to $887.03 per month. That works out to $10,644.36 per year for Kaiser Permanente coverage.Though I empathize with every working person struggling to provide affordable medical insurance for themselves and their families, I find it difficult to feel any union member’s anguish. The district is doing what it should, seeking competitive bids to keep medical premiums low. But at what point does an employer stop paying 100 percent of medical benefits and require its employees to pay a portion of those benefits?Medica
