I honestly don't know how difficult upholstering furniture is to learn, but when I was living in Sacramento my upstairs neighbor, (who only had one hand), did an excellent job upholstering. He did it as a hobby and made quite a nice sum of money on the side doing it. He would go to all the garage sales on the weekends and pickup old chairs and such dirt cheap, fix them up, and sell them. If you are interested check out the classified ads, most cities have some sort of hobby instruction classes available for cost.
