Is use of a particular brand of paint and lacquer recommended?

A. It is imperative that you use the same brand of paint and lacquer. Mixing brands can result in catastrophe. We have only tested a couple of brands. Rustoleum and Tremclad (found in Canada) are two great paints for painting metal. Always follow the manufacturers instructions concerning time required between applications and ambient temperature for best results. Use of high gloss or satin finish paints do not seem to have much affect on the final look of the machine because the lacquer determines the final finish. We mus stress though that you use the best quality paint you can find, not from a craft store. Automotive supply stores are a good source.
