Is vertigo dangerous?

0

As someone else mentioned, it is a symptom that can indicate a problem and a definate risk would be operating a moving vehicle or machinery. Falls are also a risk as one can then be at risk of breaking a hip, arm, leg, head injury. It would be in your best interests to talk with your family dr who can run some routine tests such as bloodwork to rule out iron deficiency/anemia (please do Not take iron supplements unless directed by one’s physican as it can cause liver damage) and may want to get a cat (computerized axial tomography) scan which is painless. If the basic tests come back as negative (normal), the next dr to go to for vertigo should generally be an ent (ear, nose, throat dr). Your family dr may be able to refer you to one and not sure if you have an hmo and need an official referral anyway. Hoping that you feel better real soon! There is an association for those with inner ear problems which can cause vertigo (not that you necessarily have problems with the inner ear 😉
