Is weight gain common when taking citalopram?
Yes. A lot of antidepressents come with the side effects of increased appetite and weight gain. For some people it’s not too much, but for others it is a bit of an issue. Sometimes it’s just a normal increase in appetite due to feeling less depressed, since one of the syptoms of depression is loss of appetite. If it really concerns you, talk to your GP or psychiatrist about it. But give the meds a chance to work first. Good luck and take care.
