The intent of the plan is to provide for a diversity of safe and sustainable winter recreational experiences and activities that can be counted on for the long term. During the stakeholder negotiation process and the subsequent development of the SRMP, difficult wildlife and recreation management issues were considered and addressed. All parties accepted that it would not be possible for all parties to achieve all they initially wanted, and that by realizing a balance of competing interests, the plan would provide greater certainty for each of those interests. During the stakeholder negotiations, it became clear that both snowmobilers and heli-skiers wanted to be able to continue to pursue their respective activities over the long-term and not have to worry about safety or conflicts with other users.
