To make the install of Plone on Windows and the Mac work easily out of the box, an access rule has been added that runs making the default site be shown be the /Plone one. By making it easy to run out of the box, it’s a bit more complex to scale up. If you’d like to scale up and run multiple sites, then you need to turn off this access rule. After you’ve done that Virtual Host Monster and other standard techniques will work fine. Here’s how: • Go to the Plone site (/Plone) and delete the SiteRoot object. • Go to the Zope site and select “Set Access Rule” from the drop down list. Click on the button “No Access Rule”. The access rule should now be turned off. Notes are also found in the acccess rule which can be found at CMFPlone/Extensions/accessRule.py. The above also applies if you want to use the port-base parameter in zope.conf (if you need it, you know what it is ;).
