Ive heard homemade BioDiesel is inconsistant, is this true?
If the simple instructions that are contained in our book “Pretty Good BioDiesel” or PGB are followed without deviation, then the quality will be very consistant because we follow the Biodiesel Standard (ASTM D 6751). All we can say in answer to this common accusation about consistancy is that some people take shortcuts & this certainly can have a negative impact on the quality of BioDiesel made. Failure to follow the sound BioDiesel guidelines set forth by the Biodiesel Standard (ASTM D 6751) will result in inconsistant low grade BioDiesel. We know that some people use shortcuts & do not wash or dry their BioDiesel, some stop short of complete processing or use less chemicals in an effort to cut costs & some even fail to filter it. We have found that if you follow simple guidelines set forth by the Biodiesel Standard (ASTM D 6751) as described in our book then the quality of biodiesel you produce yourself will remain high.
