Ive heard people say that they have personality settings that are stronger than the settings used for the “Chessmaster” personality. Are they REALLY stronger?
The development team has tested hundreds of different personality setting combinations, and believes that the settings used for the Chessmaster personality are the strongest that can be created, taking into account all possible time controls and all possible hardware configurations. This last part is very important to remember. While some people may claim that their settings are the strongest on their 1.6GHz processor at tournament time controls, it could be very likely that these settings would do very poorly in a 5-minute game on a Pentium II, compared to the default settings. While it is possible that these settings suggested by Chessmaster users may be better than the default personality under their test conditions, it is still not yet proven that they are better than the default settings for ALL Chessmaster users and under ALL conditions.
