This often occurs when the sender creates a file in an application that your computer doesn’t have installed. For example, if someone were to send you an Excel spreadsheet, and you didn’t have Microsoft’s Excel installed on your computer, you wouldn’t be able to view the file. Note: Please excercise caution when opening files attached to email messages. Many of today’s most common trojans and viruses arrive as email attachments. As a general rule, if an attached file contains the extension .vbs or .exe, do not open the file, even if it has come from someone you recognize.
