Many of these PHP/web-based clients use a method of repeatedly “polling” the server for messages at specific intervals. This can indeed cause delays in receiving incoming messages. WebMessenger, on the other hand, maintains a single connection to your web server for the duration of your login. This ensures that your messages are delivered to you instantly, the moment your Jabber server passes them to WebMessenger. There may be a brief (0-1.5 second) delay before outgoing messages are sent, but this delay is configurable.
