Mari, I guess the most important question I have for you is why are you considering getting a new puppy? Secondly, how does Lily behave around other dogs and puppies now? Many older dogs simply will not put up with a puppy’s silliness and constant pestering. What if Lily decides she doesn’t like the new addition? Lastly, while it is definitely true that puppies (all dogs, really) do learn from other dogs, you surely are not expecting Lily to teach the new puppy the boundaries of the yard. That simply will not happen. You will have to teach the new puppy to stay in the yard just like you did with Lily.
