Parmjit Dhanda: Self-evaluation for sustainability is really for the senior leadership team and governors to consider. It’s also voluntary. Teachers will get involved where they recognise that sustainability is motivating for their pupils and they enjoy working with them to find solutions in their school and community. The S3 tool mentioned in the consultation is designed to help schools understand where they’ve reached with sustainability and to have a think about next steps. The S3 tool can be used directly to complete the school’s self-evaluation form for Ofsted. Anon: The 2020 targets set out in the consultation paper are general. Will the Government be setting specific targets (beyond the standards for newly-built school buildings)? When will sustainability become a part of every Ofsted inspection?
