Moms of NICU babies, which one was harder?
I had a harder time with not being able to have them while in the hospital. People want to come see the new baby, see me, and congratulate the new family…but with a baby in NICU…there is none of that. Not to mention the whole floor of people with their little ones and mine is on a flat bed hooked up to monitors. Luckily my son was not born terribly early and I was able to bring him home after just a few days. But I still know I had a harder time with the hospital stay versus the few days at home without him.
I know my name is Baby Colton due January 22, but the thing is the ultrasound technologist messed up on my due date, and my baby wasn’t due until February 22:( That caused a huge shock to me when he was born on January 21. I went into labor, and was so excited because I was about to finally have him. Well, once I hit 7 cm, my doctor found out that he had flipped to breech position, and I needed an emergency c-section, since there was no way to flip him back. Since he was born by c-section, he had fluid in his lungs, that normally gets pushed out during a vaginal delivery. He was immediately rushed to the NICU, and I had no idea. My fiance went with to find out what was going on, as I was being stiched up. After 45 minutes, I was wheeled into the NICU, and I was heartbroken to see my little baby boy laying in an incubator with a c-pap on, an iv, and a feeding tube. I was expecting a healthy baby and turns out he was only 35 weeks and 2 days. It’s been 9 days now, and he is still here. T
