Motor oil bottles are a #2 plastic, are they recyclable?

0

Motor oil bottles are the kind of bottle described as recyclable in the curbside program, but because of what is contained in that bottle, please replace the cap and throw it away in your trash. Recyclable containers are to be rinsed, but we do not want you to rinse motor oil down your drain or pour it on your driveway. It takes only one quart of oil to contaminate 250,000 gallons of drinking water. So, because of what was in the bottle, and the potential hazard, please just replace the cap and throw it in your trash.
